So here is my fight scene for coffee-brown's DABR contest. It was somewhat close to what I had envisioned. The scanner did some weird stuff to the edges, so its cropped for now.

Story:
The way I kill my opponent. As I am but a simple girl, and he is a "ninja" type villain (Neko's character), I am left to run to a safe spot, the warehouse at the bottom right corner of the map. As I am waiting for him to come look for me I find I can lure him into a specific doorway and lasso him with my whip. I am successful in wrapping my whip around him and by coincidence his wrist blades cut into his face and neck cutting veins and arteries. This is how I make my first kill in Deviant Art Battle Royale.

It's a good way to get someone with wrist blades. lol, though i still like the comment on the whiteboard "violence is not the answer..."

theres so much you could have done with a whip...and potray it better as well. Its a whip dude, a real actual weapon. You can't even tell whats happening in this picture. Dude! You had like 2 weeks to do something! Even your story lacks. Well good luck all the same

I agree. There IS so much that can be done with a whip. And after thinking of all the obvious outcomes and then actually getting some real ideas, I chose this idea. Its nearly an indirect death. My character is a sweet shy girl. There is no way she would be a killer without a second thought. So I devised a plan that would have her kill (a contest rule) without her actually aggressively killing. And the outcome of that is her defensive whip skills that ultimately, and ironically, lead to the death of the opponent by his own weapon.

If you look at it that way, then it is more clever than an outright "bam! you're dead" kill. And that is why my story does not "lack". I merely did not spell out the story with minute details. I assumed the fact that she is a frilly young girl would have accounted for most of the story telling.

And I'm sorry if the perspective looks off or isn't so revealing. It was an idea I went for, a lofty goal if you will, and I am pleased I attempted such an angle. But yes, the view is rather small, I have not yet figured out the best way to make a substantial action scene that also has a good background and surrounding objects in it.

I learn.

Thank you for your comment :)

why would u make a character that was sweet and shy in a contest based off of Battle Royal? I mean have you seen the movie or read the novel...it was gorey and blood thirsty?

No, I hadn't seen the movie or read the novel. I had no clue it was either. It sounded like a name for a contest. Sorry! I will quickly Google the info. up and find out more information.

But in the meantime, not all characters have to be one dimensional. Meaning, killers can be sweet and shy, not always blood thirsty and gory. They can be cunning and maniacal or simply quick and quiet.

right, but this contest isnt about having a round character, its about showing the more interesting battle, and nothing is more thrilling in a battle than blood guts and gore...unless u can make a cool technical fight scene

well i think the way you got him was brilliant, i was vastly impressed by using the whip to make the other bring about his death with his own weapon. the clever often overcome those with only brute strength. brains over brawn.
